Communities in Mindanao can expect faster access to markets, jobs, and services as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) accelerates strategic road projects under the Road Network Development Project in Conflict-Affected Areas in Mindanao (RNDP-CAAM).
In a statement on Wednesday, the DPWH vowed to “deliver high-impact road projects that reinforce peace and stability in conflict-affected areas, promote inclusive growth, improve mobility, and expand economic opportunities in historically underserved communities.”
The RNDP-CAAM, managed by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office – Roads Management Cluster I, spans 80.97 kilometers across three major components designed to boost connectivity in Mindanao.
Sub-Project 2, the 36.73-kilometer Parang–Balabagan Road in Maguindanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur, features 16 bridges and an underpass as an alternative to Asian Highway 26, with construction already underway.
The 7.07-kilometer Sub-Project 8, Parang East Diversion Road in Maguindanao del Norte, has surpassed 15 percent completion since civil works began in June 2025 and includes four bridges.
Meanwhile, Sub-Project 9, the 17.42-kilometer Manuangan–Parang Road linking AH26 to the Davao–Cotabato Road, incorporates two major bridges and is progressing through close coordination with local governments and security forces.
Funded through a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the RNDP-CAAM aims to improve low road density in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
