Sam Milby keeps past relationship private amid renewed attention

For someone who has spent years in the spotlight, actor Sam Milby still prefers to keep the most personal parts of his life offstage.

During a media interview with ABS-CBN News ahead of his upcoming television series, the singer-actor spoke candidly — yet carefully — about the renewed public discussion surrounding his past relationship with former beauty queen Catriona Gray. The conversation resurfaced after Gray recently opened up about their breakup, revealing that marriage readiness became a key issue between them.

Milby admitted her remarks caught him off guard.

“Was I surprised? Yes.”

But beyond acknowledging the moment, he chose restraint over reaction.

“My reaction is, I just want to keep what happened between me and Cat private. I just don’t want to comment. That’s it.”

Nearly two years after their separation, Milby maintained that his silence was intentional — not avoidance, but respect. He noted that Gray has always valued privacy, which made her public reflection unexpected for him.

Choosing stillness over speculation

The renewed attention also sparked curiosity about his present love life. The actor answered simply:

“Nope, I’m not. I’m not seeing anybody.”

Time, he clarified, is not the issue.

“It’s not that I don’t have time, I do. I just haven’t met anybody. I don’t go out that much.”

Instead of dating, Milby described himself as embracing a quieter season — jokingly calling it his “tito” phase. While others spent Valentine’s Day out, he chose family, staying home to look after his nieces and nephews.

Healing in private

Gray previously shared that she tried to make the relationship work, saying she was willing to adjust out of love. Milby, however, declined to revisit details — a boundary he has consistently maintained since their breakup.

His answers reflected neither bitterness nor defensiveness, but acceptance. For him, closure does not require public debate.

In an era where relationships often unfold online, Milby’s approach stands in contrast: some stories, he believes, deserve to remain personal chapters rather than public narratives.

For now, his focus remains simple — work, family and a life lived quietly beyond the headlines.
