Bea Alonzo chooses peace

Bea Alonzo has decided to close a contentious legal chapter with an unexpected but powerful gesture — forgiveness.

After pursuing a cyber libel complaint that stemmed from alleged defamatory remarks made online, the actress has formally chosen to accept the public apology issued by entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin and her co-hosts.

In a statement released through Garcia Elauria Ruanto & Associates (GERA), Alonzo’s legal counsel, Atty. Joey Garcia, confirmed that the matter has reached its conclusion.

“After two years of legal proceedings & with the case pending before the Regional Trial Court, this matter has run its course under the law. The process has not been easy for any party involved. It has required accountability, reflection & fortitude,” said GERA Law’s Atty. Joey Garcia, Alonzo’s legal counsel.

“This decision is neither an act of retreat nor concession. Rather, it is an act of resolve, anchored in forgiveness.”

The complaint, filed in 2024, named Fermin along with her “Showbiz Now Na” co-hosts Wendell Alvarez and Romel Villamor. The case arose from statements aired on their digital platform that Alonzo deemed damaging to her reputation.

Rather than prolong the courtroom fight, however, the actress chose a different path after the respondents issued a public apology.

“She views this chapter not as something to carry forward but as something to close, with grace, dignity & peace,” Garcia added.

“Moving forward, Ms. Alonzo wishes to focus on what truly matters, her work, her advocacies & her role as a woman who uplifts others, particularly those navigating their own silent battles.”

For an industry often defined by spectacle and prolonged feuds, Alonzo’s decision signals something quieter but more profound: accountability met with mercy.

In drawing the curtain on the dispute, she steps forward not just as an actress protecting her name, but as a woman choosing calm over chaos — and purpose over prolonged conflict.
