The Pasay City Police Station arrested an armed suspect and seized illegal drugs, a firearm replica, and a stolen motorcycle during a police operation in Antipolo Street, Barangay 11, Pasay City on Wednesday afternoon.

The 43-year-old male suspect was identified as alias Jopac, a resident of Barangay 145, Pasay City.

He was arrested for violations of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, and Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Initial investigation showed that police received information regarding the presence of an armed male individual in the area. Acting swiftly, the operating team proceeded to the reported location and conducted a tactical briefing emphasizing officer safety and proper arrest procedures due to the possible presence of a firearm.

Further investigation disclosed that at around 11 PM on 10 February, Tuesday, the suspect took the key of a white Honda PCX motorcycle owned by the complainant, without the latter’s knowledge or consent. A follow-up operation was immediately conducted, which led to the tracking and identification of the suspect’s location in Barangay 11, Pasay City.

Upon arrival at the suspect’s hideout, police attempted to effect the arrest; however, the suspect fled and climbed into the ceiling of the house in an effort to evade arrest. After nearly one hour of negotiation and tactical positioning, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the operating personnel. A subsequent search led to the recovery of one firearm, later determined to be an airsoft gun, marked as evidence.

During a lawful body search conducted after the arrest, operatives seized one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, weighing 17.03 grams with a standard drug price of P115,600.

Meanwhile, the stolen motorcycle was recovered during the follow-up operation and was positively identified by its lawful owner.

Charges for violations of Republic Act 10883 and Republic Act 10591 were referred to the investigation and detective management section, while the violation of Republic Act 9165 was referred to the station drug enforcement unit for proper investigation and disposition.
