Creamline recovered from a second-set hiccup and barged into the win column at the expense of Choco Mucho, 27-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-15, in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Setter Jia Morado-De Guzman and Bernadeth Pons anchored the Cool Smashers mighty bounce back from an opening-day whipping for a 1-1 win-loss slate in a marquee sibling rivalry witnessed by a 12,600-strong crowd.
Pons, back in indoor action after winning gold in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games beach volleyball, posted a triple-double of 19 points, 13 digs and 18 receptions for Creamline, which rebounded from a sweep at the hands of PLDT last Thursday.
De Guzman, back after almost three years of playing overseas, tallied 20 excellent sets and added eight markers.
“We’re happy to get our first win in this conference. Hopefully, we’ll be able to sustain it,” Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses said.
Pangs Panaga finished with 12 points while Tots Carlos and Jema Galanza added 11 markers each from the Cool Smashers.
Galanza had 15 excellent receptions while Pons got 13 digs for Creamline.
The Cool Smashers were quick to regroup after surrendering the second frame before capitalizing on the Flying Titans’ losing main hitter Eya Laure in the fourth frame for their 19th win over their sister team in 20 meetings
Laure strained her groin muscle while diving for a dig and collided with setter Tia Andrada with Choco Mucho trailing by five, 9-4.
The Alas Pilipinas hitter was carried off the court and never returned as Creamline sent the Flying Titans reeling to back-to-back losses after beating Akari to open their campaign.
Laure had a productive night with 19 points – all from kills – she spiked with 13 excellent receptions and 10 digs before leaving the floor for good. Laure has been dealing with
Sisi Rondina fired 15 points and logged in 14 excellent receptions, Lorraine Pecana added 10 markers while Jaila Atienza got eight markers for Choco Mucho.
