Suzuki Philippines joins pawikan release in Bataan conservation effort

Suzuki Philippines has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental conservation through a pawikan (sea turtle) release activity held at the Pawikan Conservation Center in Morong.

The activity brought together Suzuki Philippines executives and team members to support marine wildlife protection and sustainability, with participants releasing rescued pawikan hatchlings into the sea.

Leading the activity were Norihide Takei, director and general manager of Suzuki Philippines’ automobile division; Ira Valte, national sales manager; and Jeff Lopez, brand communications group head of the automobile division, along with members of the company’s marketing and brand communications teams.

The hatchlings released during the activity came from pawikan nests previously adopted by Suzuki Philippines during its initial visit to the conservation center, which formed part of the Suzuki Fronx media and bank partners drive.

During that earlier visit, Suzuki Philippines also donated a Suzuki Jimny to support the center’s conservation and coastal monitoring operations. The vehicle was formally turned over to Aurelio Llenarez, president of the Pawikan Conservation Center, and Angeline Vigo, the center’s manager.

According to the Pawikan Conservation Center, its conservation efforts have produced encouraging results. Out of 100 monitored nests, 9,468 pawikan eggs were secured, with 8,713 hatchlings successfully emerging.

Suzuki Philippines team members took part in the conservation process by helping retrieve newly emerged hatchlings from protected nests before releasing them into the sea. The release was carried out along the shoreline at sunset, underscoring the importance of shared responsibility in protecting marine ecosystems.

The activity reflects Suzuki Philippines’ brand philosophy, “By Your Side,” which the company said extends beyond mobility solutions to include community support, environmental protection, and sustainability initiatives.

Suzuki Philippines said it intends to further strengthen its partnership with the Pawikan Conservation Center through additional collaborative efforts aimed at protecting pawikan populations and preserving coastal ecosystems across the country.
