Authorities seized 40 inbound parcels containing suspected high-grade marijuana, known as “kush,” with an estimated street value of P14.8 million, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

The interception occurred last 4 February at the Central Mail Exchange Center. The operation was a joint effort between the PNP Aviation Security Group, the Bureau of Customs, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The parcels were first flagged during routine X-ray screenings. A K-9 unit named “Jelly” then confirmed the presence of illegal substances, prompting a manual inspection by Customs personnel.

“This operation demonstrates the PNP’s unyielding resolve to safeguard our communities,” PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said. “Every parcel we stop is a step toward a safer Philippines.”

Nartatez credited the success to seamless coordination between the PNP, Customs, and PDEA, noting that inter-agency cooperation is critical for national security.

The inventory of the 40 parcels was conducted in the presence of media and barangay representatives to ensure transparency.

The seized drugs were turned over to the PDEA National Office in Quezon City for further investigation and disposal.

No arrests were immediately reported as authorities continue to investigate the origin and intended recipients of the parcels.
