Miguel Tabuena kept his debut LIV Golf season on solid footing with back-to-back rounds of 71 at the ROSHN Group LIV Golf Riyadh, staying under par at the halfway mark of the league’s new 72-hole format. While the leaders began to pull away under the Saudi lights, the Filipino ace maintained composure and set himself up for a strong finish over the weekend.
After 36 holes at Riyadh Golf Club, three players share the individual lead at 10-under 134: Talor Gooch of Smash GC, Thomas Detry of 4Aces GC, and Peter Uihlein of RangeGoats GC. A chasing group at nine-under includes Jason Kokrak, Jon Rahm, Sebastian Muñoz, and Ripper GC rookie Elvis Smylie, ensuring a tightly bunched leaderboard heading into the final two rounds.
In the team competition, Gooch’s Smash GC leads at 30-under, three strokes ahead of Torque GC at 27-under, with Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC in solo third at 23-under.
Tabuena opened his LIV Golf League career with a composed 1-under 71 in the first round, highlighted by an eagle-fueled stretch under the Riyadh floodlights. He matched that performance on Friday with another 71, posting a two-day total of 2-under 142 and sitting near the middle of the field in his maiden regular-season start.
Though he has yet to mount a charge up the individual leaderboard, his steady scoring has provided valuable depth for 4Aces GC, supporting Johnson, Detry, and Thomas Pieters as they pursue the top teams.
With two rounds remaining, Tabuena remains well-positioned to climb the standings while making history as the first Filipino to compete on a LIV Golf roster in the league’s expanded 72-hole format.
