LIPA City, Batangas — When the wind picked up at Summit Point, Ching Huang showed why she’s a master of tough conditions. Eight years after her triumph at blustery Tagaytay, the veteran Taiwanese golfer put on another clinic, firing a closing 66 to dominate the ICTSI Philippine Ladies Masters and claim her fifth career title — her first since 2018.
Tied for second at the start of the day, just one stroke behind Jeonghyeon Kang, Huang wasted no time. She opened with four birdies in the first five holes, including pinpoint approaches and clutch putting, creating a gap that left her rivals scrambling in the wind-swept conditions. By the end of 54 holes, she finished 11-under-par 205, taking home the $30,000 top prize and evoking memories of her four-shot victory at Tagaytay Midlands.
“I didn’t expect to win here again,” said the 33-year-old. “I just focused on keeping my tempo, one shot at a time. Everything clicked today, and I knew I had to play my best with so many strong players in the field.”
Her Korean rivals tried to close the gap: Kang birdied the final two holes to finish solo second at 209, while Jisun Kang, Yunseo Lee, and Yeonseo Hwang tied for third at 210. But Huang responded decisively with timely birdies on holes 15 and 17, maintaining a four-shot cushion.
Among the Filipinas, Daniella Uy led with par-72 for T12, Chanelle Avaricio carded 69 for T24, Princess Superal 72 for T34, and Pauline del Rosario, Mafy Singson, and Sarah Ababa tied at 222 for T37. While others faltered in the tricky conditions, Huang’s shot-making stood out — she split fairways with confident drives, attacked pins with crisp approaches, and rolled in clutch putts with unshakable composure.
After a front-nine 31 and a short bogey on 10, Huang steadied herself with a birdie on 11, keeping her rivals at bay. Another misstep on 12 didn’t matter — her consistent precision and mental toughness kept her in control.
In conditions that demanded patience, nerves, and impeccable shot-making, Huang didn’t just survive — she thrived, reminding everyone why she’s one of the game’s most formidable players when the challenge is toughest.
