Forty-eight women from Malvar, Batangas have gained digital skills and new livelihood opportunities after completing the Elevate AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Annotation) program led by Aboitiz Construction and Aboitiz Foundation in partnership with Connected Women.

The graduates completed the program on 22 January, equipping them with essential data annotation skills needed to support artificial intelligence systems and qualify for remote, technology-based work. The initiative forms part of a broader nationwide effort to empower 300,000 women through technology upskilling and sustainable income opportunities.

The online training program was designed to open pathways for women in underserved communities, allowing them to pursue new careers in the digital economy while working from home.

A graduation ceremony was held at the Malvar Municipal Hall and attended by Mayor Art Abu and Barangay Chairperson Lilibeth Lat of Bagong Pook.

“At Aboitiz Construction, our commitment to business transformation includes empowering the people in our host communities. By equipping these women with digital skills, we are providing them with the tools to stay competitive and resilient in a technology-driven world,” said Karmine Andrea Ching, senior assistant vice president for business transformation of Aboitiz Construction.

Connected Women said it will continue supporting the graduates through additional upskilling sessions and assistance in applying for online job opportunities.

“The Elevate AIDA training in Malvar, Batangas is a testament to what we can achieve when communities, local government, and partners like Aboitiz Land come together. By equipping our women graduates with digital skills and confidence, we are empowering them to create opportunities, uplift their families, and contribute to a stronger, more inclusive future,” said Mardi Mapa-Suplido, chief operating officer of Aboitiz Foundation.

To help graduates transition into remote work, Aboitiz Foundation, in collaboration with UnionBank, will hold an online session next month focused on financial literacy and cybersecurity. The session aims to help participants manage their finances and protect themselves from digital risks while working online.

Organizers said the partnership supports a larger mission to promote inclusive growth and technology upskilling for Filipino families nationwide.
