Lyceum of the Philippines University announced Jamike Jarin its new head coach for the men’s basketball team on Friday.
Jarin, who won a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) title in 2016 with San Beda University, will replace Gilbert Malabanan after five seasons.
"(Jarin) represents the values of the school, which are excellence, integrity, and service," Lyceum athletic director Dr. Allan Layco, Ph.D. said in a statement.
"Through his career in basketball, he not only won championships, he did so the right way while developing not just players who excelled on the court, but also as individuals off of it.”
Jarin is the fourth Lyceum mentor after Bonnie Tan, Topex Robinson and Malabanan.
The former National University and Phoenix Super LPG tactician is excited to return to the Grand Old League as he inherits a Lyceum squad that finished with a 3-10 win-loss record in Season 101.
"I'm very grateful to the Lyceum community… for allowing me to be part of their institution and university. It's a great honor," Jarin said.
"I'm excited to be back coaching in college and mentoring these young men again. Coaching never stops, and learning never stops. I've been blessed to coach for this long.”
