No threats have been monitored so far for the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power on 25 February, according to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
NCRPO Spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo said intelligence monitoring and threat assessment are ongoing as part of its preparations.
“Sa kasalukuyan po, wala naman po tayong namo-monitor na partikular na banta sa seguridad, ngunit ang amin pong pagbabanta ay proactive – layunin po nito na maagapan ang anumang posibleng insidente at mapanatili po ang kaayusan,” NCRPO Spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo said in a phone interview with state-run media PTV Wednesday, Jan. 28.
Asilo also said that there is no exact number yet of police personnel to be deployed, as they are still finalizing the deployment consolidation and coordination.
She, however, assured the public that there will be sufficient and appropriate deployment for the situation on the actual day of the activity.
Asilo also assured the public that they enforce maximum tolerance during the activity, noting that all police officers being deployed in the areas are following operational procedures and respecting human rights.
