Alternergy Holdings Corp., led by former Energy Secretary Vince Perez, is set to add 500 megawatts (MW) of new renewable energy capacity after securing five projects from the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction 4 (GEA 4).

The company said Monday that the Certificates of Award cleared the projects for full-scale development after completing post-auction requirements and submitting all documents before the deadline.

“This demonstrates the readiness of all our projects for full-scale development works and Alternergy’s commitment to bringing these projects to fruition,” Alternergy President Gerry P. Magbanua said.

“With all five Certificates of Approval on hand, this is a key milestone that our GEA 4 projects have been formally awarded.”

With 500 MW of new capacity set to be injected into its portfolio, Alternergy said it remains on track to hit one gigawatt of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The five projects include Liberty Floating Solar Phase A and Phase B in Tarlac, which are expected to be among the country’s earliest large-scale floating solar developments.

Alternergy will also develop the Kalandagan solar and battery energy storage system project in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.

Two new wind projects—the Tayabas North Wind Project in Quezon and the Alegria Wind Project in Cebu—with a combined capacity of more than 200 MW, are also moving forward.

“Alternergy’s wind portfolio is expanding. With the near completion of the ongoing construction of our Tanay and Alabat Wind Power Projects this year, we are pushing ahead with two more wind projects, reflecting our corporate DNA,” Magbanua said.

“These are exciting times for Alternergy. We are expanding our green energy footprint and are committed to driving growth and delivering value to our shareholders,” he added.Alternergy Holdings Corp., led by former Energy Secretary Vince Perez, is set to add 500 megawatts (MW) of new renewable energy capacity after securing five project's from the Department of Energy's Green Energy Auction 4 (GEA 4).
