The Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group intercepted a parcel containing suspected hybrid cannabis Kush worth P6.17 million from California, United States, over the weekend.

Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., acting chief of the PNP, said the illegal shipment was intercepted during a coordinated anti-drug operation at the Clark Freeport Zone.

Nartatez said that at around 8 a.m. on 23 January 2026, examiners from the Bureau of Customs at the FedEx Cargo Area in Clark Freeport Zone, Clarkfield, Mabalacat City, Pampanga flagged a suspicious parcel during routine X-ray screening.

Personnel from the Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, including members of the General Aviation Police Station AVSEU 3 and PDEA Clark, immediately responded. Using a narcotic detection dog, PDEA confirmed the presence of suspected illegal drugs, prompting a detailed examination and initial inventory at 11:30 a.m.

The seized parcel, bearing HAWB No. 887906634870 and declared as “Trekthread branded polyester Rug Runner Reversible,” contained one large cylinder-shaped cardboard box with two small brown rug rolls and three large black plastic bags. Each bag held three large transparent plastic packs containing suspected hybrid cannabis Kush, with a total weight of 4,110 grams.

Samples were taken by PDEA agents for confirmatory laboratory testing.

The parcel was shipped on 14 January 2026 by a sender from Lake Avenue, California, USA, and was consigned to a male private recipient at a residential address in Phase 1, Gulod Malaya, San Mateo, Rizal.

Witnesses to the inventory included a barangay kagawad from Barangay Dau, Mabalacat City, and members of the media. After the examination, the parcel was resealed and returned to BOC custody before being confiscated by PDEA CRK-IADITG pending laboratory results.

“This operation proves that joint vigilance can stop illegal drugs from entering our communities. Every interception keeps our citizens safe,” Nartatez said.
