The Sandiganbayan Third Division on Friday reset the arraignment of former senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. in connection with a malversation case involving an alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan, citing several pending motions.

Associate Justice Karl Miranda, chairperson of the Sandiganbayan Third Division, said the postponement was necessary as the respondents have yet to resolve motions questioning the merits of the case filed against them.

“The arraignment is reset on 9 February 2026 at 8:30 in the morning,” Miranda said.

During arraignment proceedings, the accused are required to enter their plea to the charges against them.

Earlier, Revilla filed an urgent motion seeking detention at the Philippine National Police custodial facility in Camp Crame, citing security concerns.

The court said it would verify conditions at the Payatas jail facility, where Revilla and four of his co-accused were initially committed.

Miranda also directed prosecutors to submit their comments on the omnibus motions filed by Revilla, Engr. Emelita Juat, and Juanito Mendoza by 28 January.

In addition, the court said it would inspect Camp Karingal, where two female co-accused are currently detained, to assess the condition of detainees involved in cases related to alleged anomalous flood control projects.

Miranda ordered the defense counsels to file all remaining motions seeking relief for their clients by Monday, 26 January.

Revilla appeared at the scheduled arraignment wearing a yellow Persons Deprived of Liberty shirt and was accompanied by family members, including his wife, Lani, and their children Brian and Jolo.

Also charged in the case are Engr. Jaypee Mendoza, Engr. Arjay Domasig, Engr. Emelita Juat of the DPWH Bulacan First District Engineering Office, finance section chief Juanito Mendoza, and cashier Christina Pineda of the same office.

The Sandiganbayan earlier issued a warrant of arrest against Revilla and his co-accused. They later surrendered to the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at Camp Crame on the same day.
