BAGUIO CITY — Instead of greeting each other with “Good morning,” Baguio residents were heard saying “Nakalamlammin!” (It is very cold!) on the morning of 23 January 2026, as temperatures dropped further compared with the previous day.
As of 5 a.m. today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recorded the city’s temperature at 10°C, lower than the 11°C logged on 22 January.
Higher areas of the mountain city may experience even colder temperatures than those officially recorded. The cold weather is expected to persist until February or March.
While the cool climate continues to attract visitors from other parts of the country, residents—particularly those who need to wake up early for work—are struggling with daily routines, including bathing, due to the freezing water and chilly air. Others, especially those with lower body resistance, are taking extra precautions to keep warm and avoid health complications.
