Six Philippine universities were included in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject, released on 21 January.
THE evaluated universities across 11 major academic subject areas: arts and humanities, business and economics, computer science, education studies, engineering, law, life sciences, medical and health, physical sciences, psychology, and social sciences.
In Arts and Humanities, the University of the Philippines (UP), De La Salle University (DLSU), and Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) were all ranked in the 601–800 bracket.
For Business and Economics, UP placed in the 801–1000 range, while DLSU ranked in the 1001-and-above category.
In Computer Science, Mapúa University entered the 801–1000 bracket, followed by UP and DLSU in the 1001-and-above range.
Under Education Studies, both UP and DLSU landed in the 401–500 bracket, while the University of Santo Tomas (UST) ranked 501–600.
In Engineering, UP, DLSU, and Mapúa University were all listed in the 1251-and-above category.
For Life Sciences, UP and UST placed in the 801–1000 bracket.
In Medical and Health, UP ranked in the 501–600 range, followed by UST in the 601–800 bracket.
Under Physical Sciences, Mapúa University and Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology both placed in the 1001–1250 range, while UP, DLSU, and AdMU ranked in the 1251-and-above category.
In Psychology, DLSU was recognized in the 401–500 bracket, followed by UP and AdMU in the 501–600 range.
For Social Sciences, UP, DLSU, AdMU, and Mapúa University ranked in the 801–1000 bracket, while UST placed in the 1001-and-above category.
No Philippine university made the rankings in Law.
Renowned universities abroad were also included in the listings, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Oxford, Harvard University, and Stanford University.
