The office of Christopher “Bong” Go continued its hospital-based feeding initiative from 12 to 16 January, providing meals to patients, their companions, and medical personnel in several public healthcare facilities across Metro Manila and the Visayas.
The ongoing effort, which has been sustained over the past few years, aims to offer practical support to individuals spending extended hours inside hospitals—whether undergoing treatment, caring for loved ones, or carrying out frontline medical duties.
Among the facilities covered during the latest round were San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital and Ospital ng Malabon in Malabon City; Navotas City Hospital; Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium; Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital; Valenzuela Medical Center; as well as East Avenue Medical Center and the Philippine Heart Center.
In the Visayas, the feeding program also reached Cebu City Medical Center, Leyte Provincial Hospital, and Palo Schistosomiasis Hospital, underscoring the initiative’s continued reach beyond major urban centers.
Senator Go said that while the program may be modest, it addresses a recurring concern among those who spend long hours in hospitals, particularly patient watchers and healthcare workers who often forego regular meals.
“Hindi lang ito para sa mga pasyente. Minsan, ‘yung mga bantay at staff, hindi na halos nakakain ng maayos. Kung makakatulong tayo sa isang simpleng paraan, dapat hindi natin palampasin ang pagkakataon,” Go said.
Several of the hospitals visited also house Malasakit Centers, which consolidate various government medical assistance services in one location to help indigent patients access support more efficiently. The feeding initiative complements this system by easing another daily burden faced by hospital communities—access to food during long stays.
Go emphasized that sustaining the feeding program remains part of his broader commitment to public service, particularly in the health sector.
“Walang pinipiling oras ang malasakit. Kung alam nating may makakatulong, tuloy lang po tayo sa ganitong mga hakbang. Magseserbisyo po ako sa abot ng aking makakaya,” he said.
The senator’s office said similar hospital-based activities are expected to continue in other areas as part of its ongoing outreach to communities in need.
