The camp of businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang reported Wednesday that they have surrendered his firearms to authorities after their licenses were revoked by the Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO).
In a letter dated 20 January 2026 addressed to Jose DJ Manalad Jr., acting FEO chief, copies of which were obtained by the Daily Tribune, Ang’s lawyer Gabriel Villareal said his client’s firearms had been turned over to police.
“In faithful compliance with the foregoing directives, and without prejudice to remedies available to him under the law, our client has peacefully surrendered the following firearms through his duly authorized representative at the Mandaluyong Police Station, the nearest police station to his residence,” Villareal said in the letter.
The firearms surrendered Tuesday included a Colt rifle, 5.56 caliber; Glock 9 mm; Sig Sauer 9 mm; Smith & Wesson .38 caliber; and a Battle Arms Development (BAD) 9 mm pistol.
Another licensed firearm owned by Ang, a .260 caliber BAD rifle, was not included among those surrendered as it was reported lost in October 2025, according to the letter.
“We attached herewith the affidavit of loss executed by Mr. Ang in October 2025 attesting to the circumstances surrounding the loss of said firearm, as well as the blotter report from the Mandaluyong Police Station,” Villareal explained.
