Hans Zimmer, Bleeding Fingers to create score for new Harry Potter series

HBO has enlisted acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer and his production collective Bleeding Fingers Music to craft the musical score for its upcoming Harry Potter television series.

The series, expected to premiere in 2027, will reimagine J.K. Rowling’s seven novels as a long-form television project, dedicating one season to each book. Zimmer’s involvement marks the first time the Oscar-winning composer has worked within the Wizarding World, bringing his expansive, modern sound to one of the most recognizable franchises in popular culture.

Zimmer will collaborate with Bleeding Fingers composers Kara Talve and Anže Rozman, continuing a partnership that has become increasingly prominent in prestige television. Together, they are tasked with developing an original musical identity for the series — one that supports the show’s darker, more detailed storytelling while standing apart from the beloved themes of the original films.

The Harry Potter movies, released between 2001 and 2011, featured music by several composers, most notably John Williams, whose work became inseparable from the franchise’s identity.

Industry observers note that Zimmer’s background in large-scale world-building, most recently demonstrated in projects such as Dune and Interstellar, makes him a natural fit for a sprawling episodic fantasy.

Bleeding Fingers Music, founded by Zimmer to meet the demands of serialized storytelling, has scored numerous television productions, blending orchestral themes with contemporary textures.

The Harry Potter series is one of HBO’s most ambitious upcoming projects and aims to introduce the Wizarding World to a new generation while offering longtime fans a deeper exploration of familiar characters and storylines.
