PCSO rolls out outreach aid, jackpot payouts, medicine donations

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) reinforced its dual mandate of charity and public service this January through a series of initiatives that ranged from community outreach and medical aid to the release of a P104.5-million lotto jackpot.

In Lipa City, Batangas, PCSO conducted a community-based outreach program on 9 January 2026, providing medical, educational, and food assistance to residents in several barangays. The activity was led by PCSO Chairman Judge Felix Reyes, alongside Directors Jennifer Guevara and Imelda Papin, and PCSO Batangas Branch Manager Brenda de Guzman.

Among the beneficiaries was Turiana Suarez of Barangay San Benito, who received P50,000 in medical assistance to help cover hospital expenses. The aid was requested through the Office of the Chairman and personally handed over during the activity.

PCSO also distributed 2,000 “Charitimba” packs to residents of Barangays San Benito, Sto. Toribio, San Francisco, and San Celestino, most of whom were senior citizens. In addition, 80 college students from the same communities received educational assistance.

Officials said the outreach was part of PCSO’s Corporate Social Responsibility program and aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring government services closer to underserved communities.

Days earlier, two women claimed a combined P104,548,763.10 jackpot from the SuperLotto 6/49 draw held on January 8, 2026. The winners — a senior citizen from Los Baños, Laguna, and a 38-year-old housewife from Caloocan City — each received half of the prize after claiming their winnings at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City on 12 January.

Both winners picked the same winning combination, 09-11-30-12-24-26, using family members’ birthdates.

“Mahigit tatlong dekada na ako sumusubok sa lotto at umaasa din na manalo para mabago ang aking kapalaran. Mahirap at matanda na ako gusto ko naman guminhawa ang buhay namin ng pamilya ko. Babahaginan ko din ang mga kapatid ko,” the senior citizen said.

She added, “Sa mga mananaya huwag kayo mawawalan ng pagasa. May awa ang Diyos sa mga naniniwala sa kanya.”

Under the TRAIN law, prizes exceeding P10,000 are subject to a 20 percent tax.

Meanwhile, PCSO also turned over P30,000 worth of medicines to Baguio’s lone congressional district during a ceremony on 12 January 2026, at the PCSO Conservatory Building in Mandaluyong City. The donation was made under the agency’s Medicine Donation Program.

Representing PCSO were Medical Services Department Manager Dr. Clarissa Ferrer and Division Chief III Dr. Rouel Aparato. The medicines were received on behalf of Baguio by Paulo Dela Cruz for Rep. Mauricio Domogan and will be used for medical missions and outreach activities, particularly for senior citizens and marginalized residents.
