BCDA extends interim management of John Hay Golf Course

BAGUIO CITY — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has approved a one-year extension for the interim operations and management of the John Hay Golf Course in Baguio City.

The contract with Golfplus Management, Inc. and Duck Sports and Music Productions, Inc. will now run through 2026 to prevent service interruptions at the facility. BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang stated that the extension is intended to maintain the quality of the course and ensure it remains open to the public.

During this period, the BCDA plans to finalize long-term management arrangements for the property. The facility will continue to operate under a public-access model, where players can access the course by paying standard green fees.

Under the extended agreement, the interim managers are tasked with organizing the BCDA Chairman’s Cup in 2026 and overseeing ongoing facility improvements. The course recently co-hosted the 75th Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament. Participants, including Luisita team skipper Abe Rosal, noted that the course conditions—specifically the greens and fairways—met high competitive standards during the event.

In addition to commercial operations, the facility maintains a partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission and the National Golf Association of the Philippines. This program provides free course access to golfers aged 18 and below to support youth athlete development.

The BCDA maintains that these interim measures are necessary to preserve the golf course as a functional public asset while a permanent management solution is being finalized.
