Muntinlupa honors centenarians

DT

Ruffy Biazon personally visited two centenarian residents on Tuesday as part of the city government’s recognition of senior citizens who have reached the rare milestone of 100 years old.

The mayor led the symbolic awarding of P100,000 checks to Nanay Emilia of Barangay Ayala Alabang and Nanay Josefina of Barangay Alabang, acknowledging their longevity and contribution to the city’s living history.

Nanay Emilia, who is bedridden and living with dementia, was cited by the mayor as a testament to strength and resilience, having outlived five of her seven children. Nanay Josefina, meanwhile, continues to engage cheerfully despite difficulties with vision and hearing, even sharing her birthday wish to live longer and see a world where people no longer suffer hardship.

Biazon said meeting centenarians remains a personal privilege, noting that very few reach a century of life. He stressed that the city’s programs for senior citizens are rooted in valuing their stories, experiences, and role in shaping Muntinlupa’s history.
