The Provincial Government of Bataan hailed companies operating in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) for their significant contributions to national and local coffers through the faithful payment of taxes.

During the celebration of the 269th Bataan Foundation Day, the provincial government conferred the Sinag ng Bataan awards, which recognize individuals and organizations whose contributions continue to drive the province’s growth and development.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Bataan Tourism Pavilion in Balanga City on 9 January.

Among the awardees was Mitsumi Philippines, Inc., which was named Top 1 Taxpayer under the one-percent share from the five-percent Gross Income Earned (GIE) of FAB-registered enterprises for Fiscal Year 2024.

The award was received by Mitsumi General Manager Yoshitaka Kitahara, together with members of the management team Jun R. Fevidal and Kriscel Joy L. Junio.

The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) also commended Mitsumi Philippines, Inc. for its meaningful contribution to sustainable economic growth within the FAB and the Province of Bataan.

“We are proud that Mitsumi Philippines, Inc. has been recognized as the Top 1 Taxpayer under the one-percent share from the five-percent Gross Income Earned of FAB-registered enterprises for Fiscal Year 2024,” Kitahara said.

“This recognition reflects our continued commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and meaningful contributions to nation-building and local development.”

Also recognized among the Top Real Property Taxpayers in Bataan for 2024 were AboitizPower’s private limited partnerships GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC).

GNPD received the Sinag ng Bataan–Alab Award after ranking Top 2 Real Property Taxpayer in the Industrial Business category, while GMEC placed Top 4 in the same category.

In 2024, Bataan’s economy posted notable gains, with total provincial revenue reaching P5.5 billion, led by Mariveles (P1.24 billion) and Balanga City (P1.13 billion). Growth was largely driven by the FAB and surrounding industrial zones.

On the national level, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) collected more than P2.85 trillion in 2024, exceeding its target due to stronger enforcement efforts. Bataan’s contribution came from both local taxes and substantial national tax remittances from FAB enterprises.
