A crown, a promise, and Jamie Herrell’s homecoming

Love came full circle for Jamie Herrell as the former beauty queen officially stepped into married life with Matthew Manotoc, sealing a six-year relationship that quietly grew away from the glare of pageant spotlights.

Before the wedding bells rang, Jamie shared the story behind the proposal—one rooted in memory and meaning. Returning to the same destination where they once traveled together as a couple, Matthew asked the question that marked a turning point in their journey. “Six years later, in the same place as our first trip together is a nice ribbon to it all,” she wrote, capturing the sentiment behind the moment that led to forever.

Jamie’s story is one deeply familiar to pageant fans. Representing the Philippines on the global stage, she claimed the Miss Earth crown in 2014, joining an elite circle of Filipina titleholders who brought pride to the country. Yet while her reign introduced her to the world, it was love that ultimately grounded her back home.

On 9 January, Jamie and Matthew exchanged vows at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, a meaningful choice for the bride whose roots trace back to Cebu. The ceremony marked the union of two families: Matthew, the son of Imee Marcos and former athlete Tommy Manotoc, and Jamie, the daughter of Mary Snow “Snowie” del Rosario and the late James Edward Herrell.

The celebration did not end at the altar. True to Filipino tradition, the festivities extended beyond the wedding day, with another round of celebrations planned in Ilocos Norte. The location honors the groom’s home province and reflects the couple’s shared respect for family and heritage.

Adding a deeply personal touch to the occasion was Jamie’s wedding gown, created with care and patience by her uncle, Fil-Am designer Allan del Rosario. Months of meticulous, mostly hand-done work went into crafting not just one, but two gowns—one for Cebu and another for the Ilocos Norte celebrations.

From a global crown to an intimate cathedral aisle, Jamie Herrell’s journey has come full circle—this time not as a queen onstage, but as a bride surrounded by family, history, and a love that chose to grow quietly before blooming boldly.
