Globe Telecom announced that its chief sustainability and corporate communications officer, Maria Yolanda “Yoly” Crisanto, has been named a 2025 Distinguished Thomasian Alumni (DTAN) awardee by the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association.

The recognition honors Crisanto’s contributions to corporate communications, sustainability leadership, and national advocacy. She is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas’ Communication Arts program.

Crisanto has played a central role in Globe’s transformation into a purpose-driven organization, having pioneered the company’s sustainability practice in 2009. Her work integrated climate action and social development into Globe’s long-term business strategy at a time when sustainability was not yet widely adopted in the Philippine corporate sector.

She also led Globe’s digital responsibility initiatives, including the multi-awarded MakeITSafePH campaign, which promotes online safety, mental well-being, and awareness against cyberbullying. In addition, she has been involved in efforts to curb online piracy through the #PlayITRight campaign, which frames piracy as a moral and economic issue affecting artists and creative workers.

Beyond her role at Globe, Crisanto serves as a trustee of the Ayala Foundation and previously held leadership roles in the Public Relations Society of the Philippines and the AVIA Coalition Against Piracy.

“This recognition is for the entire Globe team whose dedication to embed sustainability at the heart of our strategy helps create a better, more inclusive future for all of us and the country. We continue our purpose-driven stewardship, deeply committed to the common good, and I am proud to champion this,” Crisanto said.

The 2025 DTAN also recognized alumni from the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters, including Faye Martel Abugan, faculty alumni officer and coordinator for internationalization and community service, and Atty. Marivic Laurel-Garcia, deputy secretary for legislation at the Senate of the Philippines.

“Yoly exemplifies the Thomasian brand of leadership: compassionate, competent, and committed to the common good,” said Henry Tenedero, president of the UST Philets and Artlets Alumni Association Inc. “Her impact at Globe and in national advocacy demonstrates how purpose-driven leadership can uplift communities and strengthen the country’s path toward sustainable development.”

Crisanto holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and completed the WBCSD LEAP Program with ESADE Business School and Yale University.

The Distinguished Thomasian Alumni Award is conferred on UST graduates who have made exceptional contributions to their professions and to society, and who exemplify core Thomasian values such as competence, compassion, and integrity.
