DAVAO CITY — Davaoeños celebrated the Traslacion of the Poong Nazareno on Friday, 9 January, commemorating its 11th Feast Day.

As early as 4 a.m., about 200 devotees of the Black Nazarene Chapel in New Lanzona, Matina, participated in the two-hour Solemn Translation Procession with a replica of the Poong Nazareno. The procession passed through the streets of Barangay Matina Crossing, reached Matina Aplaya, and returned to the chapel.

A Mass was held following the procession.

Meanwhile, devotees also attended the 11th Feast Day at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Chapel in Deca Tigatto, Buhangin, which hosted the official replica of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of the Poong Jesus Nazareno, commonly known as Quiapo Church.

The official replica was brought to various parishes and streets in Davao City, including a procession from San Alfonso Maria de Liguori Parish in Mandug to the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Chapel at 8 a.m.

A Fiesta Mass followed at 10 a.m., presided over by Archbishop Romulo G. Valles of Davao.
