The Bureau of Customs (BOC), in coordination with the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, seized eight unlawfully imported vehicles in Taguig City on 8 January 2026.

The operation was carried out at the Fort Victoria Condominium following the issuance of search warrants based on information received and verified by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) involving vehicles allegedly owned by a person under investigation.

The ICI earlier received information regarding 15 vehicles allegedly linked to former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co. After verifying the plate numbers, the commission coordinated with the Land Transportation Office to confirm ownership records and with the BOC to determine whether the vehicles had complete importation documents and proper payment of duties and taxes.

Authorities found that the vehicles were registered under entities with ties to the former lawmaker.

Based on the BOC’s assessment, nine of the 15 vehicles were found to have incomplete importation documents and unpaid duties and taxes. Search warrants for the nine vehicles were subsequently issued by a Regional Trial Court after a finding of probable cause for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

During the operation, eight of the nine vehicles covered by the warrants were found in the condominium’s parking area and were seized.

The confiscated vehicles were transferred to the parking facility of the ICI due to limited space at the BOC compound and the proximity of the commission’s office to the search site.

The ICI reiterated its commitment to verifying information relevant to its investigation into alleged anomalies in flood control and infrastructure projects and encouraged the public to submit credible leads.

It also expressed support for the BOC and other government agencies in efforts to recover unlawfully acquired assets and protect public resources.
