The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued a warning on specific Nestlé infant formula products, including NAN, ALFAMINO, S-26 GOLD, and S-26 ULTIMA, following a voluntary recall initiated by the company.
The recall covers several product batches that may be contaminated with cereulide, a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus, which could pose potential health risks to infants.
The SFDA said the recall is precautionary and stressed that no illnesses linked to the affected products have been reported in Saudi Arabia. Exposure to cereulide may cause nausea, frequent vomiting, and abdominal pain.
Consumers were advised to immediately stop using the affected batches and properly dispose of the products.
The SFDA said it is closely supervising the market withdrawal in coordination with Nestlé and continues to strictly monitor food safety. The agency urged the public to report concerns or violations through the Unified Call Center (19999) or the “Saudi Vigilance” service.
