Sustainability remained a central pillar of ING Hubs Philippines’ operations in 2025, with the organization delivering measurable environmental and social impact through a combination of operational reforms, employee-led initiatives, and technology-enabled engagement.
A major milestone was the company’s 23.5 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, more than double its annual target. This achievement was driven primarily by the transition to 100 percent renewable energy across all office locations, significantly lowering the carbon footprint of day-to-day business operations. The move underscores ING Hubs Philippines’ alignment with global climate goals and ING Group’s broader commitment to decarbonization and responsible banking.
Beyond operational changes, employee participation played a defining role in advancing sustainability outcomes. Colleagues across the organization spearheaded initiatives that diverted 8,900 kilograms of textile waste from landfills through reuse, donation, and responsible recycling programs. These efforts addressed the growing challenge of fashion and textile waste while promoting circular economy principles within the workplace.
Environmental restoration was another key focus area. In collaboration with local partners, ING Hubs Philippines employees planted more than 20,000 trees, contributing to reforestation, biodiversity protection, and long-term carbon sequestration. Tree-planting activities complemented the organization’s participation in coastal cleanups, reinforcing its commitment to protecting marine and coastal ecosystems while raising awareness of plastic pollution.
Social sustainability initiatives ran in parallel with environmental action. Through partnerships with the Philippine Red Cross, employees donated 95 units of blood, helping strengthen the country’s emergency and healthcare response capacity.
The organization also supported public education by donating 150 laptops, improving access to digital learning tools for students and schools with limited resources. It has partnered with Aboitiz Foundation to support the latter’s AuroraPH project that provides last-mile public schools of the Department of Education with solar power and satellite Internet.
To promote early childhood development and literacy, ING Hubs Philippines helped establish a child-friendly reading nook, creating a safe and engaging space that encourages reading and learning at an early age. This initiative reflects the organization’s belief that long-term community resilience begins with inclusive access to education.
On workplace inclusion, the organization showed its leadership in creating safe spaces for everyone through four recognitions: Gold for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Silver for Workplace Mobility at the HR Excellence Awards 2025; Company of the Year at the PFIP Bahaghari Awards; Great Place to Work® certification for the third time in April 2025; and ranked among the Overall Top 3 Graduate Employers in the Philippines by Prosple
A distinctive feature of ING Hubs Philippines’ sustainability approach is the use of a proprietary ESG tracking tool, which enables employees to log, measure, and visualize the environmental impact of their collective actions. Through this platform, employees helped avoid or remove a combined 1.17 million kilograms of CO₂, significantly surpassing the company’s annual engagement target. The tool not only quantifies impact but also fosters accountability, transparency, and sustained employee involvement in sustainability efforts.
Taken together, these initiatives demonstrate how ING Hubs Philippines integrates climate action, community development, and employee empowerment into its corporate strategy. By pairing renewable energy adoption with grassroots engagement and data-driven monitoring, the organization reinforces its commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and the creation of resilient communities — turning sustainability goals into tangible outcomes in 2025.
