Suzuki Dzire, Fronx post strong Eco-Run results

DT

Suzuki recorded solid fuel efficiency figures at the Department of Energy ( DoE) CY2025 Fuel Eco-Run, with the Dzire Hybrid and Fronx Hybrid turning in competitive results under standardized testing.

SHOWCASED here is the Suzuki Dzire Hybrid GLX CVT, one of the models that posted a fuel economy figure of 36.10 km/Lge at the DoE CY2025 Fuel Eco-Run.

The event, organized by the Department of Energy, measures real-world fuel consumption to raise public awareness and encourage manufacturers to improve vehicle efficiency. Vehicles are tested under controlled conditions to ensure comparable results across categories.

Suzuki Philippines Incorporated joined this year’s run under the Internal Combustion Engine category. The company entered two mild-hybrid models currently sold in the local market, the Suzuki Dzire Hybrid GLX CVT and the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid SGX AT.

SEEN here is the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid SGX AT, which recorded 24.69 km/Lge during the DOE CY2025 Fuel Eco-Run held on TPLEX.

Official results released by the DoE showed the Dzire Hybrid achieving a fuel economy rating of 36.10 kilometers per liter gasoline equivalent.

The figure placed the subcompact sedan among the more efficient entries during the run, reinforcing its reputation as a practical option for daily driving and longer trips.

The Suzuki Fronx Hybrid posted a fuel economy rating of 24.69 kilometers per liter gasoline equivalent.

The result highlighted the crossover’s ability to balance fuel efficiency with added ride height and cargo flexibility, traits that appeal to buyers seeking a more versatile vehicle.

Both models are equipped with Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki technology. The system combines a conventional engine with a 12-volt mild-hybrid setup that includes an integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery.

The setup supports the engine during acceleration and enables auto stop-start operation to help reduce fuel use.

Norihide Takei, director and general manager of the Automobile Division of Suzuki Philippines, said the results reflected the brand’s approach to building vehicles suited to everyday driving conditions.

He added that the DoE Fuel Eco-Run provides an objective platform for measuring fuel efficiency under the same standards applied to all participants.

Takei also said fuel efficiency plays a role beyond cost savings, pointing to its link with sustainability and responsible mobility.

He noted that Suzuki continues to align its local lineup with government efforts on energy conservation through models such as the Dzire Hybrid and Fronx Hybrid.

Suzuki thanked the Department of Energy for continuing the eco-run program and for encouraging industry participation.

The company said it remains focused on offering vehicles that deliver efficiency, reliability, and value as fuel economy remains a key concern among Filipino motorists.
