Toyota advances ‘multi-pathway’ plan

Toyota Motor Philippines is adding two more electrified options to its local lineup as it pushes a multi-pathway plan for cleaner mobility. The company introduced the Toyota ATIV Hybrid Electric Vehicle and confirmed it will bring in the Toyota bZ4X as its first full battery electric vehicle under the Toyota brand in the Philippines.

FRAMEWORK shows how Toyota’s multi-pathway approach maps out different technologies toward carbon neutrality.

Toyota Motor Philippines president Masando Hashimoto said the company supports the Philippine government’s carbon reduction goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent by 2030.

He said customers can now choose among gasoline, diesel, hybrid electric, and battery electric vehicles depending on lifestyle and location.

The ATIV HEV is positioned as Toyota Motor Philippines’ most affordable electrified model so far. The company said the top variant starts at P1.19 million.

It also cited a fuel mileage figure of up to 31.3 kilometers per liter based on the fuel consumption test protocol under UN Regulation No. 101.

At the same time, Toyota Motor Philippines said it will serve buyers who already have access to charging. That is where the bZ4X comes in. It described the bZ4X as offering zero tailpipe emissions and quiet operation in areas with charging facilities.

The announcement comes as electrified vehicle sales continue to climb locally. Toyota Motor Philippines cited Department of Energy projections that the Philippine market could reach 50,000 xEV sales by the end of 2025, more than double the 2024 level.

The Department of Energy also reported year-to-date sales of 41,000 units through September 2025, up 356 percent compared with the same period last year based on new xEV registrations.

Toyota Motor Philippines said its own electrified sales are also rising. As of the end of November 2025, the company reported combined Toyota and Lexus xEV sales of 16,986 units, a 45 percent increase year on year compared with 2024.

With the ATIV HEV lowering the entry point for hybrids and the bZ4X bringing Toyota into full electric vehicles locally, Toyota Motor Philippines said it will continue to push a mix of technologies that match Philippine road conditions, infrastructure readiness, and everyday driving needs.
