The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Sunday said it has condoned a total of P623,715,596.85 in penalties and interest from 14,330 approved housing loan accounts under its Condonation 7 program.
Set to conclude on 31 December, the condonation initiative has delivered significant relief to housing beneficiaries nationwide. After eight months of implementation, the NHA said it has collected P29,374,466.19 from program beneficiaries as of 30 November.
Originally scheduled to end on 31 October, to coincide with the NHA’s 50th anniversary, the program was extended until 31 December to allow more families—particularly those affected by economic hardship and successive calamities—to avail of discounted housing payments.
An initiative of NHA General Manager Joeben A. Tai, Condonation 7 granted the 100 percent removal of penalties and delinquency interest, and condoned 95 percent of unpaid amortization interest, easing the financial burden of thousands of housing loan accounts nationwide.
For Ciriaco and Lourdes Ondillo of Kaunlaran Village, the program enabled them to fully settle their long-overdue housing loan.
After years of uncertainty, the Ondillo family said they regained a sense of financial security.
Salamat NHA malaking tulong samin ang Condonation program ninyo,” Ciriaco said.
In Barangay Sawata, Caloocan City, Berbeth Agrava said she was able to redirect her savings toward home improvement and livelihood after availing of the program.
The reduced payable balance allowed the Agrava family to stabilize their finances and strengthen their livelihood.
Meanwhile, a widow who lost her husband earlier this year said the program helped her regain hope amid mounting financial obligations. After Corazon Octavio’s husband died in May 2025, missed housing payments led to accumulating penalties.
While managing her sari-sari store and prioritizing housing payments, Corazon applied for the NHA’s condonation program.
As Condonation 7 formally winds down, Tai reiterated the agency’s commitment to sustainable housing solutions under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program and the Bagong Pilipinas vision of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..
The NHA said the program addressed long-standing arrears while allowing beneficiaries to stabilize finances, strengthen livelihoods, and secure long-term housing tenure.
