The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) welcomed the appointment of former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Nicolas Torre III as its new general manager.
Malacañang confirmed on Friday that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Torre to the post, replacing Procopio Lipana.
In a statement, the MMDA said it fully supports the President’s decision in appointing Torre.
“Gen. Torre is a welcome addition to the MMDA family. I am sure he will be a big help to the agency,” MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes said.
The MMDA also extended its appreciation to outgoing General Manager Lipana, who served the agency for more than three years.
“The MMDA remains committed to continuing its mission of ensuring safe, efficient, and orderly mobility and development in Metro Manila with the appointment of Gen. Torre,” the agency said.
Torre was replaced as PNP chief earlier this year following supposed disagreements with the National Police Commission, Marcos Jr. earlier said.
