Toyota Motor Philippines has launched the bZ4X in the Philippines. The model is the first full battery electric vehicle sold locally under the Toyota brand. Retail sales started on 11 December and the first units were released to customers.
The new model adds a full electric option to Toyota’s local lineup. Before the bZ4X, Toyota’s battery electric vehicles were limited to the Lexus brand.
The arrival of the bZ4X places a full electric vehicle under Toyota’s main nameplate for the first time in the country.
Toyota Motor Philippines said the launch aligns with its long-term strategy on lower-emission mobility. The company introduced hybrid technology to the local market in 2009 through the Prius.
Since then, it has expanded its electrified range across different segments. Toyota and Lexus now offer a combined total of 22 electrified models in the Philippines.
The local bZ4X uses an all-wheel drive system. It runs on a 73.11 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with two electric motors. The front motor produces 227 PS, while the rear motor delivers 120 PS. Torque output stands at 269 Nm at the front and 170 Nm at the rear.
Toyota lists a driving range of up to 570 kilometers based on United Nations testing standards. Actual range varies depending on traffic, road conditions, and driving style. The vehicle includes Eco and X-Mode drive settings.
The exterior follows a sharp and angular design. Standard features include LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a panoramic moonroof. Ground clearance measures 200 mm.
The cabin seats up to five occupants. A power tailgate with a kick sensor supports easier access to the cargo area.
The bZ4X focuses on comfort and daily use. The seats use synthetic leather upholstery. Rear passengers have ample legroom. Both front and rear seats include heating functions.
The front seats also offer ventilation. The driver’s seat uses an eight-way power adjustment system with memory settings.
The cabin includes a 7-inch digital instrument display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard. Two wireless charging pads are placed in front. USB Type-C charging ports are available for both front and rear passengers.
Safety features come from the latest Toyota Safety Sense system. The package includes a pre-collision system, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, and dynamic radar cruise control.
Automatic high beam and adaptive high beam functions are also standard. Blind spot monitoring, a panoramic view monitor, and a digital inside rearview mirror assist with visibility in traffic and parking situations.
Toyota includes a wall box charger and a portable charger with every bZ4X purchase. The company said this supports new electric vehicle owners as charging access continues to improve in key areas.
Toyota Motor Philippines executives said local buyers have become more familiar with electrified vehicles after years of exposure to hybrid models.
They also cited the gradual expansion of charging infrastructure as a factor behind the decision to offer a Toyota-branded battery electric vehicle to a wider audience.
Early customers shared that fuel cost savings played a role in their purchase decision. Some cited daily commute patterns that pass through areas with available charging stations. Others pointed to long-term ownership plans and confidence in Toyota’s service and parts network.
The bZ4X is offered in a single variant. Prices start at P2.699 million, with higher prices depending on exterior color choices. Units are now available at selected Toyota dealerships nationwide.
