A police corporal assigned to the Palompon Municipal Police Station (MPS) tested positive for illegal drugs following a targeted random drug testing operation conducted earlier this month.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group–Visayas Field Unit (IMEG-VFU) conducted the targeted drug test after receiving intelligence information in September 2025 alleging that Police Corporal Marty Opleda Ordoña of the Palompon MPS, under the Leyte Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) and Police Regional Office 8 (PRO 8), was involved in the use and proliferation of illegal drugs.
IMEG-VFU carried out a series of validations, which reportedly confirmed that the police officer was an illegal drug user. Based on the findings, the unit developed a Target Intelligence Packet (TIP) codenamed “K9,” recommending that Ordoña be included as a subject in a random drug test.
On 5 December at around 9:00 a.m., the Regional Forensic Unit 8 (RFU 8) conducted random drug testing among Palompon MPS personnel. The activity was undertaken at the request of IMEG-VFU and in coordination with PRO 8, the Regional Internal Affairs Service 8 (RIAS 8), and the Special Operations Unit 8 of the Police Drug Enforcement Group (SOU 8-PDEG). Ordoña was among those tested.
The results of the drug test were released on 13 December by RFU 8 at Camp Kangleon in Palo, Leyte. Laboratory findings showed that Ordoña tested positive for methamphetamine, a dangerous drug under Philippine law.
The PNP said the necessary documentation for the filing of appropriate administrative charges against the police corporal has been prepared, with the complaint scheduled to be filed on 15 December.
The PNP reiterated its commitment to internal cleansing and intelligence-driven operations, stressing that no one is above the law and that personnel involved in illegal drugs will face administrative and legal consequences.
