Pasig community gets huge housing boost

The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), in partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), awarded two checks worth over P21 million to the Centennial Sunrise Homeowners’ Association Inc. recently, marking a key milestone under a government housing initiative.

The funds were released under the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP), a key component of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.

SHFC president and CEO Federico Laxa led the ceremony in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, on 9 December and the checks cover the payment to the landowner, which will allow the 175-member community to transition to legitimate and secure land ownership.

In addition to the land payment, SHFC turned over a grant to cover the expenses for processing the documentary stamp tax on the mortgage.

The agency said this is part of the ECMP’s transformative approach, which focuses on complementary benefits beyond just land acquisition.

“This is a meaningful Christmas gift from SHFC and DHSUD,” Laxa said. “It symbolizes hope and a fresh start for families who have long aspired to have a safe and stable place to call home.”

Alongside the check turnover, Deputy Administrator Lee Robert Britanico of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Regulatory Office announced that qualified members of the homeowners’ association can avail of the Enhanced Lifeline Program (ELP).

The ELP is a government-supported initiative that provides discounted water rates to eligible low-income consumers. The program follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed by SHFC and the MWSS Regulatory Office on 5 December.

The Centennial Sunrise Homeowners’ Association is one of five ECMP communities that received their Certificates of Lot Award from President Marcos, DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, and SHFC president Laxa during the National Housing Expo on 23 October in Pasay City.
