The Honda Prelude is officially on its way back to Philippine roads. Honda Cars Philippines Inc. announced the comeback of the storied coupe during Honda Fest 2025 at Festival Mall in Alabang, where the all-new Prelude appeared as a preview unit ahead of a planned 2026 launch.
Honda Fest doubles as the kick-off for HCPI’s 35th anniversary. The brand filled the Promenade Parking area with cars that trace its history in the country.
Older models such as the 2000 CR V, 1998 Civic SiR, 2001 HR V, and 1993 Prelude stood beside their present-day counterparts, many of which already carry hybrid powertrains.
Current internal combustion models, such as the BR V and City, also joined the display, along with a full line of test drive units available for visitors over the weekend.
The Prelude, however, drew the biggest crowd. Fans know the name from past generations that helped build Honda’s image as a driver-focused brand. The new version now takes the role of a halo hybrid coupe.
HCPI has not yet shared local specifications, although it hinted that the Philippine release will follow the global template in most major areas, similar to what it did for the Civic Type R before.
Globally, the 2026 Prelude uses Honda’s e HEV hybrid system. Power comes from a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that works with a dual motor setup. The system produces around 200 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque.
The exterior has a low stance, a smooth roofline, and a sharp front end that nod to earlier Preludes but fits the brand’s current design language.
The Prelude keeps a 2 door, 2+2 arrangement, so it still works as a daily car for owners who want a sporty look without giving up basic practicality.
Honda Fest also gave the public a look at other changes within HCPI. The company announced updates to its dealer network that will take effect on 1 January 2026.
The Gateway Group will handle Honda Cars Makati, Cebu, Negros and Cagayan de Oro. The Borromeo Motoring Group will manage Honda Cars Bacoor, Pasig, Mandaue and Iloilo.
HCPI will directly operate Honda Cars Shaw through its own subsidiary, while Honda Cars Tacloban is set to complete the brand’s expansion in the Visayas.
