Graduating guard Forthsky Padrigao is still weighing his options after closing his University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball career.
The heady University of Santo Tomas (UST) guard was overwhelmed with emotions after the last buzzer sounded, signaling an end to his collegiate stint that saw him play for two schools and bag one title.
However, his next career move, whether to pursue a professional career here or abroad, remains up in the air. He looks to improve his craft and recover for now.
“I don’t think I’m in the level where I want to be,” said Padrigao after the Tigers exited Season 88 men’s basketball tournament Final Four with a stinging 81-82 loss to defending champion University of the Philippines on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“But I’m gonna be preparing for it,” he added.
The 5-foot-10 court general bid goodbye to the UST squad he played in the last two years of eligibility without any regrets.
“Well, we’re not happy with the result but personally I’m really happy about our team especially with the improvement of the young players from last season to this season. It’s a big leap for them and UST and I think hopefully it’s something they can get excited about for the upcoming seasons,” he said.
Padrigao suited up for the Tigers last year after a controversial transfer from Ateneo de Manila University in 2023 following the Blue Eagles title conquest in Season 85.
“I’m really grateful for all the experience. I’m grateful I’ve been to Ateneo and UST. I’m just really grateful for the experiences, the wins, losses, and all the learnings. Just really absorbing everything and trying to be present. Thankful for everything,” he said.
Wherever fate brings Padrigao, he has already carved a legacy both as a Blue Eagle and a Tiger.
