The suspect faces charges under Republic Act No. 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, which imposes severe penalties for child abuse by stepparents, including prision mayor in its maximum period (8-10 years), fines starting at P50,000, and loss of parental authority. He also faces renewed charges under Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, stemming from prior violations and the seized items.
