As a way to bring the community closer to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division has formed a pact to make retired soldiers ambassadors of peace and stability across the region.
The event, dubbed Ugnayan sa mga Retiradong Sundalo sa 7ID (URS7), was held at the Headquarters 307th Community Defense Center, 3RCDG, RESCOM, PA, in Baler, Aurora on 21 November 2025.
A total of 64 retirees participated in the activity, which forms part of 7ID’s continuing effort to reinforce trusted community networks, promote accurate information, and sustain peace and stability in Central Luzon.
The event was led by Col. George Bergonia (MNSA) PA, Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, 7ID, together with key officers from the 7ID, the 91st Infantry Battalion, and the 307CDC.
The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) also briefed participants on updated benefits, entitlements, and ongoing support programs.
The initiative highlights the division’s recognition of veterans as credible partners and force multipliers—individuals whose experience, influence, and community presence contribute significantly to countering misinformation, strengthening national security, and upholding public trust in the AFP.
Col. Bergonia reaffirmed 7ID’s commitment to maintaining its long-standing partnership with retirees, emphasizing that their continued engagement “remains vital to the Army’s mission of protecting communities and safeguarding regional stability.”
Meanwhile, MGen Joseph Norwin Pasamonte PA, Commander, 7ID, commended the initiative and emphasized the indispensable role of AFP retirees in advancing the division’s mission.
He stated, “Our retirees are not only part of our history—they remain part of our operational strength. Their wisdom, credibility, and continued involvement amplify our efforts in building secure, resilient, and well-informed communities. The 7ID will always value and support our veterans because they embody the spirit of service that inspires our soldiers today.”
MGen Pasamonte further affirmed that the division will continue expanding programs that empower veterans as active partners in peace, development, and nation-building.
