The Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC) said overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Riyadh received guidance on resolving real estate disputes during the OFW Serbisyo Caravan held from 13 to 15 November at the Al Mutlaq Hotel.
Organized by the Department of Migrant Workers through the Migrant Workers Office in Riyadh, the caravan allowed OFWs to seek help from HSAC on real estate concerns, including filing cases involving questionable practices by developers.
HSAC Commissioner John-Christopher T. Mahamud outlined the agency’s mandate and jurisdiction during the caravan’s opening program. He underscored its role in ensuring accessible housing justice for Filipinos, including those abroad.
He thanked the DMW and the Philippine Embassy for gathering government agencies in one venue.
“Our overseas Filipino workers are crucial builders of our nation. That is why HSAC shares the goal of DMW to make government service truly within reach of our kababayans beyond our shores,” he said.
HSAC personnel answered inquiries on property ownership and housing disputes. Several participants welcomed the agency’s presence, citing its relevance to OFWs investing in real estate.
Mahamud said HSAC’s participation reaffirmed its commitment to make its services accessible to Filipinos worldwide.
