After the supposed three-day rally of Iglesia ni Cristo ended in two days, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is now preparing for the anticipated nationwide “Trillion Peso March” set on 30 November 2025.
PNP Acting Chief, Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., said that the successful and peaceful conduct of the two-day INC protest will serve as the blueprint for the security plan to be implemented for the upcoming mass demonstration, organized by church groups, civil society organizations, and other groups in response to alleged corruption in government flood control infrastructure projects.
According to Nartatez, the PNP has enough manpower and equipment to ensure order and citizen safety. The police will also coordinate with local government units and organizers to guarantee that the event proceeds smoothly and peacefully.
“The successful security implementation during the recent rallies, particularly at the Quirino Grandstand, was another good experience that boosts the operational capability of the PNP in handling large assemblies. With the cooperation of the organizers and participants, we are confident of ensuring the safety of the people as they exercise their democratic rights,” PLTGEN Nartatez said.
Citing what occurred on 21 September, which included some violent incidents during the protest, PLTGEN Nartatez noted that potential threats include crowd congestion, road accidents, and isolated incidents of lawless behavior, like those at Ayala Bridge and Mendiola in Manila.
To mitigate these threats, the PNP has set up multiple checkpoints, rapid response teams, and is coordinating closely with emergency services.
“Our principle is maximum tolerance, but zero tolerance for any threat to security,” PLTGEN Nartatez noted.
The public is advised to expect road closures and rerouting in key areas, particularly along major thoroughfares. PLTGEN Nartatez also appealed for cooperation and understanding to keep the mass demonstration peaceful.
“To our countrymen, please expect that we will do everything to make your gathering orderly and safe. Your cooperation is all we ask,” the PNP assured the public.
