For Darwin Gromeo and his wife, settling down in Davao meant building a life that could keep pace with the demands of remote work. What made that possible, he says, was finally finding an internet connection that didn’t get in the way.
A virtual assistant for a US-based company, Darwin has worked from home since the pandemic. Reliable connectivity became essential — and elusive.
“Before Converge, we went through three internet providers. Converge has been our connection for four years now. It gives enough speed, and we even saved money because we got the Converge Netflix Bundle,” he said in Filipino.
The bundle, launched in November 2024, pairs a boosted fiber plan with an integrated Netflix subscription. The entry-level package, priced at P1,798, includes 400 Mbps internet, a WiFi 6 modem, and the Xperience Hub Android TV box.
For the Gromeo family, the device has become part of their nightly ritual.
“Aside from Netflix, there are other things we can do. The TV box has free news channels and a YouTube app for the kids when they get bored with Netflix,” Darwin said.
With two young children, the couple leans heavily on Netflix’s KidsTV catalog, choosing shows the kids can watch safely.
Beyond entertainment, the fiber line supports Darwin’s work hours, which often require real-time communication with overseas clients.
“Converge has low ping, and if it does go out, the connection comes back quickly. Most of the time, it’s stable — not like other providers,” he said.
Darwin was among the first users of Netflix in Davao when the service became available in Mindanao in 2021.
With several years of remote work behind him and seemingly countless hours of streaming for the kids, he says he now recommends the bundle with confidence.
