PWFT shakes off pressure ahead of inaugural Futsal World Cup

With the Philippines being the host country for the first-ever FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup, the Philippine Women’s National Futsal team (PWFT) bears no pressure at all and is purely aiming to let game and glory speak for the squad.

Scheduled on 21 November to 7 December 2025, the games are set to take place at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

For national team mainstays Jaclyn Sawicki and Katrina Guillou, they draw inspiration and hold no pressure in competing on their own soil.

“I don't think we're gonna take that pressure on with us. I think we're gonna just enjoy being with the Philippines here and just enjoy the experience and really just not take it for granted because it is special to be able to be a part of this for the first time ever,” midfielder Sawicki expressed during the 2026 PUMA Philippines x PFF Kit Launch last 15 November.

“So to be able to do that on the world's biggest stage yet again, and in our home country to have the crowd with us physically present this time around, is truly special,” she added.

Sawicki added that representing the country “holds a lot of gravity” but that weight serves an honor to every player donning the red, blue and white.

Guillou, for her part, expects that they can clinch a win in the momentous sporting event which was planned way back in 2022.

As the veteran midfielder said, “I think it's not just me, but I think I can speak for everyone here that we stay hard, expecting to win, and we're gonna give our best.”

Tickets are on sale at FIFA.com and range from P499 to P2,999.
