GreenHeat rooftop solar to cut Honda bills

GreenHeat Corp. has switched on a 1.35-megawatt (MW) solar rooftop system at Honda Parts Manufacturing Corp.’s facility in Biñan, Laguna, to scale up renewable energy use across industrial sites.

The company said Friday that the installation will deliver 1,547,452 kilowatt-hours of clean power in its first year—about 30 percent of the Honda facility’s electricity demand.

GreenHeat said the system will cut roughly 773,726 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually, or 19.3 million kilograms over 25 years.

“This partnership is a clear example of how two companies can align business performance with environmental responsibility,” GreenHeat managing director Glenn Tong said.

“Our goal is to support forward-thinking companies like Honda transition smoothly to renewable energy solutions that not only cut costs but also contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future,” he added.

Implemented under a 10-year solar service agreement, the project adds to GreenHeat’s footprint in the commercial and industrial segments as more companies seek protection from volatile power costs while pursuing sustainability commitments.

The project uses 2,180 units of 620-watts-peak solar panels and 11 sets of 100-kilowatt grid-tie inverters, paired with advanced monitoring systems and multiple layers of electrical protection. It complies with the Philippine Electrical Code and the National Structural Code of the Philippines.

Since its founding in 2010, GreenHeat has built more than 35 MW-peak of solar rooftop capacity nationwide. Its 68 operating installations include factories, malls, schools, cold storage facilities, and the country’s first operating commercial floating solar project in Bohol.
