Music, education, and literature take center stage this month as the Embassy of Spain, through its Cultural and Education Offices and the Instituto Cervantes, unveils an expansive program of cultural events for November.

Spanish baritone Luis Llaneza is set to inspire young singers through master classes at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) on November 14 and at the Philippine Women’s University on November 19, followed by a public performance at UST on 22 November.

Cinema enthusiasts can look forward to Spain’s participation in QCinema, a ten-day international film festival beginning 14 November, highlighting both Spanish and Filipino cinema and strengthening cultural exchange between the two nations.

Education also takes the spotlight at the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF), to be held at Robinsons Manila’s Midtown Atrium on 21 to 22 November. Thirteen top universities from Spain will present academic opportunities to young Filipinos interested in pursuing higher education abroad.

Spain’s cultural outreach continues in schools, where marine biologist Isabel Nuñez will deliver lectures on reef preservation at Saint Pedro Poveda College, the University of the Philippines, and Everest Academy Manila. On 28 November, architects Juan Ramón Jiménez and Jesús Pulido will hold a conference at the National University titled Architecture and Urban Planning During the Spanish Period, exploring their studies of Intramuros, Parián, San Nicolás, Cavite, Cebu, and Davao.

Sports and culture will also converge as the Spanish women’s futsal team competes in the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on 22, 25 and 28 November, while engaging with students to promote youth participation in sports.

Art enthusiasts can still visit ongoing exhibits, including Four Centuries of Spanish Engineering Overseas at the Centro de Turismo in Intramuros, A Synergy of Ventures: The Post-War Art Scene at the Ateneo Art Gallery — commemorating Fernando Zóbel’s centennial — and Mezcla: Interwoven Cultures and the Mantón de Manila at the Ayala Museum.

Through this diverse lineup, the Embassy of Spain reaffirms its commitment to strengthening cultural ties between Spain and the Philippines, celebrating the shared heritage and creativity that continue to unite both nations.
