The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) showcased their efforts to assist Filipinos during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan in recent days.

On Monday, the PCG conducted a free ride service for stranded passengers from Taft Avenue to Araneta Center, Cubao, and back, due to severe weather conditions brought by Uwan. The initiative was dubbed “Uwan for All, All for Uwan.”

According to the PCG, the program aims to demonstrate that the Coast Guard stands with the public in all types of weather conditions.

“This is also proof that the PCG is not only serving at sea, but is also ready to help on land, to ease the journey of our countrymen affected by severe weather. Thank you very much for your continued trust. Let us travel together towards a safe, smooth, and comfortable journey, and together let us promote a ‘New Philippines,’ in accordance with the aspirations of our President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr.,” the PCG said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Acting PNP Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. underscored coordination, empathy, and readiness in the aftermath of the storm.

Nartatez Jr. personally visited the PNP Command Center (PCC) on Monday morning to oversee monitoring and post-typhoon response operations nationwide.

Together with Police Colonel Ramon Pranada, Chief of the PCC, Nartatez reviewed reports from regional offices and units deployed in affected areas, emphasizing the PNP’s continued vigilance to ensure that recovery, relief, and security operations remain coordinated and responsive to community needs.

During his visit, Nartatez engaged with personnel on duty, checking real-time updates and giving guidance on sustaining coordination with local government units, national agencies, and other responders.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining readiness even after the storm, stressing that leadership means standing with the people not only during the crisis but throughout recovery. He reminded personnel that effective calamity response requires both discipline and compassion — qualities that define the PNP’s public service.

The PNP remains fully mobilized to support ongoing relief, clearing, and rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by Uwan. With the Command Center operating 24/7, field units continue to ensure public safety, assist evacuees returning home, and help restore normalcy in affected communities.
