CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy has not issued any suspension of work or classes on Monday, as Typhoon Uwan moves to exit the Philippine area of responsibility.

In an advisory, Uy said the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has not recommended suspending work or classes because no typhoon signal has been raised over Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City.

“The city is also not included in the list under Malacañang’s order to suspend work and classes,” the mayor said.

City Hall held its regular flag-raising ceremony, although the scheduled People’s Day activities were postponed.

Meanwhile, several local governments in Misamis Oriental opted to suspend classes due to heavy rains. The towns of Binuangan, Lagonglong, Sugbongcogon, Talisayan, Medina, and the city of Gingoog were among those that issued suspension orders.

Continuous rains triggered landslides and flash floods in upland barangays of Cagayan de Oro, causing trees to be uprooted. No casualties were reported.
