The Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion of the 7th Infantry “Kaugnay” Division ramped up its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) efforts in Aurora on Sunday.

According to 91IB commander Lieutenant Colonel Aries A. Quinto INF (GSC) PA, the unit is closely coordinating with local government units (LGUs).

He said the battalion has fully activated its disaster response units to assist in preemptive evacuations, rescue readiness, and community alert operations. The unit has also extended assistance to nearby areas that are expected to be affected by the powerful cyclone.

"Our troops are on standby for immediate deployment to support LGUs in evacuation, rescue, and relief operations. The safety of our people remains our top priority," Quinto said.

Army personnel are currently conducting loudspeaker operations in high-risk coastal and low-lying barangays to urge residents to evacuate early and follow local disaster directives.

Relief supplies — including food packs, drinking water, blankets, and medical provisions — have been prepositioned in evacuation centers and strategic locations for rapid distribution once the typhoon hits.

Coordination between the 91st Infantry Battalion, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and municipal DRRM councils continues for monitoring flood-prone and landslide-risk zones.

Lt. Col. Quinto reaffirmed the Army’s support to civil authorities during the typhoon response.

"We continue to work hand in hand with local government units and partner agencies to ensure an organized and efficient disaster response," he said.

Authorities meanwhile advised the public to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor official updates as Typhoon Uwan is expected to bring destructive winds and heavy rainfall to Central Luzon.
